 MUSIC

Voice Colors’ model allows people on the autism spectrum to experience the joy of playing music! People with autism often don’t have the opportunity to learn a new instrument, and when they do it can seem impossible, especially when much of the instruction is highly verbal. But Voice Colors provides a visual approach that gives them access to a variety of musical experiences.

This system was developed over a decade ago when Eve started a music program for her son Billy in collaboration with musician Martin Case. Although he always loved music, Billy had no concept of how songs were created or played. There was no available curriculum that would give Billy access to the language of music.

So they had to start at the very beginning. Using innovative visual systems, Billy had to learn everything from scratch, including the difference between his right hand and left hand. But over the years, one skill led to another. Billy is now able to read musical notations, count rhythms and play multiple instruments. Jamming out is one of his favorite activities!
