Voice Colors Yoga is an AOTA Approved Provider of professional development. Course approval ID# 005500. This distance learning interactive training is offered at 3.0 CEUs at the beginning / intermediate level, service delivery, and foundational knowledge.

Educational Levels and Outcomes
The Yoga for Autism training prepares Occupational Therapy practitioners to implement a visual communication-based yoga program for clients with autism.
The following learning outcomes will be attained in the Yoga for Autism training:
Introductory Level:

Learners will develop an understanding of autism as a systems disorder that can affect sleep, digestion, allergies and other systems of the body

Learners will recognize why stress management and overall health are essential for the autistic population, understand the barriers that can prevent autistic individuals from accessing stress management and overall wellness, and learn to utilize a visual communication-based approach to yoga to provide access to stress management and overall wellness.

Learners will gain familiarity through both observation and practice with a variety of visual teaching supports including the provided visual yoga curriculum, utilizing environmental supports and physical modeling
Intermediate level:

Learners will design a 20-30 minute yoga session that effectively incorporates the following visual supports: 1 visual schedule, 5 or more yoga sequences, and 1 environmental support (such as props or hand/foot markers on the yoga mat)

Learners will present their 20-30 minute yoga session (supervised practical application), demonstrating a satisfactory use of the Voice Colors visual yoga curriculum, teaching scripts, and instructional methods

In addition to receiving a graded rubric from course instructors, learners will reflect on their performance and self-identify 2-3 areas of growth or improvement

Requirements for Completion
Successful completion of the Yoga for Autism training requires:

Live attendance and participation in all scheduled course sessions for a total of 30 contact hours

Satisfactory completion of a 20-30 minute teaching practicum (supervised practical application) as measured by a graded rubric to be provided in advance

Individual practicum teaching sessions with peer feedback, an instructor-graded rubric, and self-reflection
